19th Century French Marble Topped Chest

A stunning 19th century French oak three-drawer commode with a shaped marble top and oval porcelain handles. The solid marble top in tones of blue, burgundy, cream. This top rests on the base which would originally have been a red colour and at some stage later has had a specialist gesso applied in an earthy, almost metallic blue which compliments the blue in the top and handles. An original sticker can be found on the underside of the top which helps date this piece to the latter part of the 19th Century.

Condition: Very solid, all the draws run smoothly. The marble top remains in good condition other than a very small piece of restoration to the front and some light scratches to the top. The finish to the main body remains in good condition with areas of light wear as expected
